Abstract

This work was undertaken to evaluate the integumental response in lower face following hard tissus changes, and to examine the prediction for expected integumental profile.
Cephalometric headplates of 21 persons consisted of Angle¢¥s Class¥² with anterior crossbite, whose Hellman dental age was ¥³c and Va, were traced, diagramatized, and statistically analyzed.
The results were as follows
1) As the result of orthodontic treatment, the retracted profile was- corrected by increasing upper lip protraction with labioversion of upper incisor, and then the ratio between the amount of upper incisor protraction and the increment of upper lip protraction
was appoximatelly 2.4: 1.
2. The thickness of upper lip was remarkably decreased by upper lip protraction, and then the ratio between the amount of upper incitor protraction and the decrement of upp lip thickness was approaimatelly 1.83 1.
3. The thickness of soft tissue overlying Downs point A was slightly increased, but there was not significant.
4. As the result of retraction of lower incisors lower lip was retracted, but there was not significant.
5. The thickness of soft tissue overlying Downs point B and pogonion was nearly unchanged.
